He says talks should reduce differences with neighboring Iran. Abdur Rahman said this in an interview given to the American television channel Bloomberg News Network.
He said now was the right time for such talks and that Doha was ready to mediate. He said in an interview that he had long called on the leaders of the six-nation PGCC and Iranian officials to hold such talks.
The Qatari foreign minister said his government was optimistic about such talks and that such talks would take place. Meanwhile, the leaders of the PGCC countries have expressed their interest in Qatar.
The Qatari foreign minister made the remarks as US President Joe Biden took office and vowed to return to Iran's nuclear program once he came to power. The member countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council are Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.
